The Cherry Pie Inn - A potted history

In spring of 1963 Sunny Christie and her husband Al took over the premises and named it The Cherry Pie. Sunny’s speciality, her own recipe, was cherry pie and they decided to call their cafe by that name.

Four years later they decided to sell. Audrey and John Ellis, with their sons Nigel and Simon, took over the business on 22nd November 1967.

After many years of hard work, and now calling itself an “Inn”, the Cherry Pie has gone from strength to strength and on 22nd November 2017 celebrated 50 years of trading - a wonderful achievement.

On that date the family hosted an Open Day and between the hours of 12 midday and 12 midnight 600 people came to offer their congratulations and enjoy the fine fare provided.

The business is now run by Audrey’s younger son Simon, who is a very popular host, and the kitchen is managed beautifully by his wife Eleri.

Onward and upwards!
